No more nightmares, please

Children grow up scared and unsafe in another country, without official status. They try to escape from the nightmare, but the situation for them is not stable. They try to study in school for a better future. But proper education is not open to them. The children, who should own the future of the country, are becoming weak, both mentally and physically. If the trees which form the environment are destroyed, it is bad … If the children’s hopes are destroyed, it is worse. By MMT

KIA ဘက္ ခရီး

ဘုန္းႀကီးေက်ာင္းမွာ တပတ္၊ ၁ဝ ရက္ေလာက္ေနၿပီး အပူတျပင္း စီစဥ္ရပါတယ္။ ရန္ကုန္က လူသစ္ရဲေဘာ္ေတြက မူဆယ္၊ နမ့္ခမ္းဘက္ကို လက္လွမ္းမမီၾကပါ။ ဆရာ ရာဂ်န္နဲ႔ ျပန္ခ်ိတ္ၿပီး တနသၤာရီဘက္ ဆင္းရေတာ့မယ့္အေျခအေန ျဖစ္လာတယ္။ ျပန္ခ်ိတ္ဖို႔ ျပင္ေနဆဲမွာပဲ လူသစ္ ရဲေဘာ္တေယာက္က အၾကံသစ္တခုတင္ျပတယ္။

“KIA နယ္ေျမထဲ ဝင္လိုက္။ ပါတီနယ္ေျမနဲ႔ KIA နယ္ေျမက တဆက္တစပ္တည္းမို႔ ကူးလိုက္႐ံုပဲရွိတယ္။ ျမစ္ႀကီးနားအထိ က်ေနာ္ လိုက္ပို႔ေပးမယ္” တဲ့။

Behind a nice front wall

There are over one million Burmese people who live as migrant workers in neighbouring countries. Most of them work in factories. They are often treated in unfair ways. They must work long hours. They must live on the factory premises, often in dingy dormitories which cause depression. The factories often have poor sanitation, and give low salaries. It is so difficult to find work in Burma. Many people have to move to other countries to solve their problems of income, food, shelter… Often the conditions there are not as good as they had hoped. But they must continue to work in order to live … By MMT

ဧၿပီ ၇ ရက္ ယေန႔မနက္ ၄ နာရီမွာ ရန္ကုန္တိုင္း ေမွာ္ဘီအေျခခ် အမွတ္ ၄ စစ္ဆင္ေရး ကြပ္ကဲမႈဌာခ်ဳပ္ လက္ေအာက္ခံ တိုက္ႀကီးၿမိဳ႕မွာရွိတဲ့ ခမရ ၇၀၉ တပ္ဖြဲ႔တခ်ဳိ႕နဲ႔ ခမရ ၇၁၀ တပ္ေတြကို ရန္ကုန္တိုင္း အထူးတပ္ဖြဲ႔ေတြက ဝင္ေရာက္ပစ္ခတ္ရာ တဦးေသဆံုးၿပီး တဦးဒဏ္ရာရရွိသြားတယ္လို႔ အပစ္ခံခဲ့ရတဲ့တပ္က တပ္ၾကပ္ႀကီးတဦးက ေျပာပါတယ္။

How can I fulfil the expectations of my family?

I do not expect grand things for my family. Just a home which is peaceful, a wooden house with a small garden, with my son, my daughter and my wife. But I can not see even this happening… In our area, where it is not safe or stable, everything, including buildings and people, can disappear at anytime. By MMT

Let them smile until they understand the situation in their country

The photo which inspired this painting was taken inside Mae La refugee camp for Karen people. The camp is called by the Thai authorities a “temporary shelter for people fleeing conflict”, but it has been here for nearly 20 years. The people living inside it are not recognised as refugees. Will they be forced to go back to Burma? Will they be forced to leave forever? By MMT

ျမန္မာႏိုင္ငံမွာ ေရာက္ရွိေနတဲ့ တ႐ုတ္အဆင့္ျမင့္ ေခါင္းေဆာင္ က်ားျခင္လင္း ဟာ သမၼတ ဦးသိန္းစိန္နဲ႔ ဒီကေန႔ ေတြ႔ဆံုခဲ့ေၾကာင္း သိရပါတယ္။
